We thought it
would be fun to show off some photos of our glider breeding room
so everyone could get an idea of how we keep and raise our gliders.
Below are some photos and information for you to enjoy!
New
Glider Room
Our glider room
is dedicated entirely to our sugar gliders. We recently repainted
the walls with a high finish semi-gloss to help protect the walls
and make our cleanup process easier. The floors are tiled with ceramic
tile to also help facilitate clean up. In addition to the dairly
wipe down and clean up each morning, one a week our cages are rolled
out of the room and the entire floor is mopped with a cleaning disinfectant.
The room also contains a ceiling fan and a red light night bulb
to interact with the gliders during the night without disturbing
them.
Here are some
photos of our glider room being painted and the finished product:
Glider
Cages
All of our gliders
are kept in either pairs or trios in coated wire cages that measure
36" tall x 32" wide x 21" deep. Each cage has it's
own separate stand with rolling wheels which helps us roll the cages
out to clean and mop the floors.
Every cage
includes vines to chew on, tons of toys, a stealth wheel, food bowls
for both glider cereal and fruit, a water bottle, sleeping pouch,
sleeping tunnel, hammock, cabana, assorted floor toys and hanging
coco peeps. In addition, when not breeding gliders are let out to
run and play outside of their cages.
Each glider
cage has it's own color theme and design. Here are some photos of
our glider's cages:
